This week I got an email asking about ABY pedals. Should you pay for a decent $100+ pedal or buy parts and build one yourself? I am going to reference tone guru Joe Bonamassa’s pedalboard to drive home a point.

This week we talk about upcoming episodes and the original Pentatonic Scale. I’d love to hear from you about what guitar picks you use or would like me to review. I have a bunch ready to go but would love more to add variety. Here is what Wikipedia states about the Pentatonic Scale.

This is one of the most difficult episodes I have done. I am only doing this because I have either done these things and regretted it later or have experienced someone else doing this and thought they were jerk-faces for doing it. I hope this helps you.

• Don’t take yourself too seriously
  • Please put your ego aside a bit for the team
• Don’t scream at your band-mates
• Don’t abuse your band-mates time or take their time for granted
  • Expecting your band to practice 3+ times a week and wait months for a paying gigs is unacceptable.
• Be realistic about your expectations of others in the band
• Lead, don’t push
• If you take a job in a band as “musician 2” don’t push to be “musician 1 or 3.” (rhythm guitar – lead guitar)
• If you have a negative gut feeling about joining a certain band, trust that instinct and don’t join.
• Give the band a chance
• Know when to be loyal and when loyalty will cost you.
• Don’t be afraid to try
